Media extremely welcomed and accepted, the book “Critique of Toxic Masculinity: A Review of Contemporary Research” published in 2021 by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, Office for Bosnia and Herzegovina introduces the BosnianHerzegovinian public to the fundamental feminist reflections on masculinity and its implications on the entire social, cultural and political life, regardless of gender and sexual identity.

Critique of Toxic Masculinity is the first book in the postYugoslav space to address the issue of toxic masculinity, or the question of the harmful consequences of the concept of masculinity on the overall social situation. The most significant contribution of this publication is an interesting turn in the treatment of the victim of the patriarchal order. Namely, the author focuses on the research of toxic masculinity on the man.

Thus, the harmful consequences of toxic masculinity are not reflected only on the lives of women, but to a great extent also on the lives of men. Therefore, this publication occupies a valuable place in feminist thinking and activism, mostly because it addresses a problem that has been neglected in feminist thought, namely the question of the harmful effects of masculinity on the quality of life of men, where the author, from the sociological and psychological perspective, shows how the concept of masculinity that is unreservedly adopted and affirmed can be very harmful to the mental and physical health of man. The publication “Feminism and Men: A Beginner’s Guide” (2022) was released with the support of Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung. This can be a useful resource for high school and college students in understanding the historical context of feminist movements in which men have participated as allies such as Frederick Douglass, John Stuart Mill, Thomas Paine, and others. Author has also held discussions with men from Bosnia and Herzegovina, discussing their involvement in advocating gender equality.

The author‘s wish is for more men to recognize the values of the feminist movement and to understand its historical facts that both men, albeit in the minority, have been part of various feminist actions. Readers need to be familiar with the definitions and ideas of feminism in order to be motivated and empowered! We need to spread the knowledge. The world of knowledge seeks allies, those who will be brave in advocating for an equal society despite the passion for uninformedness that is becoming increasingly present. This guide by Nikola Vučić is his contribution to that.
